Built in 1869, The Peterson-Dumesnil home is of one of the few remaining Italian Villa or "Bracketed Italianate" style homes in Louisville. The design of the house is attributed to the well known Irish-born architect Henry Whitestone, who also designed several major buildings on Main Street. The turret was apparently added to the house to bring light to the center hall. The charming front porch is also thought to have been added to the house in later years.
