Subject: Christmas orders
I just moved here and was unable to go home for Christmas. I decided to send several family members baskets from my new home state for Christmas. I saw your commercial on TV and went to your web site.
I was the big hit this Christmas, without even being present. I have heard from several family members who have loved the products. The Derby Pie and old horse shoe were a huge success. My parents loved the pancake, jams and biscuit mixes. My sister in-law even took a few things to her husband's family's house.
It made me a little less homesick to know we were all eating Derby Pie even being 4 states away from my family. My family expected me to be there for Christmas so had my presents with them...so the Derby Pie was my big present.- Thanks again for all that you do, Debbie

Thank you so much! We are taking this gifts to Chicago to promote Kentucky. We took them to Atlanta in November and they were a huge hit!
Subject: Re: Christmas Order
I'm hoping that your holidays were as wonderful as mine!
At the last minute, I ordered Kentucky II by James Archambeault. It arrived in plenty of time and was as beautiful as I thought it would be.
We're in Florida, although from Kentucky, and I was delighted to find your site. John Hassman (are you reading this?) was an absolutely charming person to correspond with.
I had forwarded your site to a friend of mine. She was to come for dinner over the holidays and arrived with a sweet potato casserole recipe that she had pulled from your selection on the internet.
I'm thinking about having a Derby Party this year. Got a new patio built recently and I'm pretty good at smoking a pig. Anyone want to come down? We can always go to the beach afterwards.
Thanks a million! Remember, I'm going to need Derby things!

How did you do? You did great! I don't believe even a week passed from the time I placed my order online until the time I was opening my box here in Central Florida. Fast, efficient, and extremely well-packed...I appreciate your wonderful service! Another plus - receiving a package from Kentucky helps to ease my homesickness...thank you!

Subject: DERBY PIE
HELLO, AS USUAL OUR PIE WAS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL, WE OPENED IT ON XMAS DAY & OUR SON & DAUGHTER-IN-LAW & FAMILY HAD NEVER TASTED ONE BEFORE, THEY LOVED IT TOO....COULD HAVE USED ANOTHER ONE....THANK YOU, MIRIAM
Subject: Re: A Taste of Kentucky -- January 2005 Newsletter -- Issue #32
as always you did great and our customers were very complimentary about our gifts - we often are told our gifts are the best and most unique - one of my clients says his wife always asked him if he has received the "care package from Kentucky" yet. one thing that always surprises me is the variation in time with deliveries, when they are always going out at the same time - I know we are dealing with locations from the East Coast to the West Coast, but seems like the delivery time difference goes beyond this - I know this is controlled by your shipper, not you - some of this could have been the result of the extreme weather conditions. Keep up the good work. Dennis
Subject: Thank You
John, I just wanted to express my thanks and the thanks from individuals whom gave the party for Jack M. for his 30 anniversary with HMS Host.
Jack was very delighted with his gifts and stated that these were going to his home where he could display them.
I thank you for you commitment to ensuring both items made it there in less than 24 hours along with calling the sculpture himself to help "Make It Happen".
Our sincerest thanks, Wayne
Subject: Package to Iraq!
Hello! I wanted to let you know that the package you mailed to Matt made it two days ago! Everything was in good shape and he was greatly surprised to say the least. In fact he said that it was the best care package he'd received and that he was "Amazed." He mentioned that all of the things that were in the box were things that he'd grown up with. It made what was a particularly long week really wonderful. Thanks so much for all of your help in this. I'm so glad that he was so thrilled with everything in it. I'll hopefully see him today so that he can tell me more about it and he also mentioned that there were a few items he was going to bring over to show me as well. So, thanks so much for everything- it means so much to be over in this nasty place and have people back home support us- especially to assist in making other peoples days! Thanks. Melany
Subject: Gift to the Bahamas
This message is for Tom at the corporate office:
"Taste of Kentucky" was the perfect solution to for our gift from Kentucky. Our sons are members of the Western Kentucky Swim Team. One of the team is from the Bahamas and he invited our boys to his home for Spring Break. His mom entertained 12 WKU swim team guys! We Kentucky moms thought she was crazy and needed to enjoy a quiet "Taste of Kentucky" after that hectic week. So, thanks so much for getting that package together for us.
Thanks again, Cathy W
To all at Taste of Kentucky,
Thanks for contributing to my best KY Derby party ever. My husband and I started the tradition 2 years after we moved away from Louisville, where I was born and raised. We just celebrated our 6th Derby party in Portland, Oregon and our friends just love it. They start shopping months in advance for the "Fabulous Hat Contest". Attached is a picture of one of the more creative ones.
I love the convenience of being able to order the same party supplies I would buy if I were still in Louisville. You make it possible for me to add the special touch of official julep glasses and other special treats. (I didn't order Derby pie or Rebecca Ruth bourbon balls this year because my friends said they preferred my homemade ones--how great is that?)
Thanks for being there for me on that first Saturday in May when I'm most homesick!
Subject: KY Derby party info from NH
Hello all! For the fourth straight year in a row I have used you to supply my annual Yankee salute to the KY Derby. This year we actually had a former VIP coordinator for Churchill Downs as one of our guests and he bought a mean mixer bottle of Jim Beam mint juleps. Whoa... About a one glass max on those drinks! Any idea where I could order that for future reference?
The best part of the party was our winning horse pot. Everyone can buy whatever horse they want to win for a three dollar fee. All the money goes into the pot and whoever's horse wins divies up the money. Well, this year I actually chose Funny Cide! And I was the only one!! So the hostess really was the mostess with a $129.00 winning to crow about!
When everyone asked me what I was going to do with all that money I sportingly replied that I was buying a second TV for next years party so that 40 of us aren't cramming into one room to watch the race!
Thanks for, as always your excellent service, product selection and all those great recipes you include in your newsletters. It's great doing business AND pleasure with you!

Recently I ordered 50 derby glasses and "talk derby to me" bags. I want you to know how pleased I was with your service. They arrived at the hotel in Washington DC in plenty of time for the rehearsal dinner and everyone thought that they were a very special addition. Thank you again! As ever, Anne

Subject: Great Service!
I am writing to express my extreme satisfaction with your company!
I recently placed an order for my Kentucky Derby party with Tom and he was extremely helpful. My order came in plenty of time for my party, the box was well-packed and Tom took great care with my order to minimize the shipping costs. On top of that, I found your products to be of high quality and all the items were as promised. My guests enjoyed the chocolate horseshoes I passed out as party favors! I am a first time customer with your company and I will be using your services again in the future. It is not often that a company can impress a customer with their first order, but in this case, A Taste of Kentucky (and Tom) have come through in flying colors! Thanks,

Subject: Dec. order
My husband and I grew up in Kentucky but relocated to Florida 18 years ago. Needless to say many of our favorite Ky. foods and items are not available here so we must wait until an occasional trip back to Ky. to find the items we had loved as Kentuckians. I discovered your website and subscribed and also received your catalog so placed an order in December. We were absolutely delighted with every single thing we ordered, but outstanding was the country ham. It is the best either of us has ever eaten and we will definitely order more of them. The sauces were great, too, and we know where to get our Derby items-------thank you for gathering the best of many Kentucky-inspired products. Our order was shipped very quickly and packed extremely well and everything arrived in excellent condition. Lana
Great! Thanks for helping make all my gifts to my friends and family special! Cindy Rochester, MN

I wanted to let you know, I ordered from you for the first time this past Christmas. I was able to track the order and know if and when it arrived. The recipients really enjoyed the gift basket and most of all the bourbon. They live in Napa Valley and of course have lots of wine at their disposal, and so I thought they would like a ÔTaste of Kentucky'. They too are horse lovers and loved the horse shaped basket. I will definitely order again in the future. Thank you again, Joan

Dear Tom, Thank you for taking the time to go the extra mile at this busy time of the year. I was reading the tracking info on this order and another I had shipped. These pies sure do travel around before they reach their destinations! If they could talk, I'm sure they would all have a story to tell! I'm sure my aunt will be very surprised whenever it manages to land in her mailbox! Thanks again, Maureen

I can't believe that my candy arrived today - just 4 days after I placed my order. That was super quick! Thank you for your prompt service. And I absolutely LOVED the way the items was bundled together. The red checked ribbon was very festive but the packet of Kentucky Bluegrass sees nearly blew me away. I am a native Kentuckian transplanted to Texas and I believe I'm the only person here who loves it when the goldenrod blooms. I'm going to plant the bluegrass in a flowerpot and take really good care of it. It was so thoughtful of you to add such a nice touch to my package!
Thanks again, Mary

Hi! I found your web site while looking for a "Kentucky recipe". My daughter has been studying the State of Kentucky all year in school. She is in the fourth grade and part of her project is to cook a recipe from "their state". We will choose one tonight from the list from the cook book you have on your web site. Wish us luck! I registered for a chance to win the gift basket. You all did a nice job on your web site. Sincerely, Kristie M Winsted, CT

We received your lovely basket yesterday - can't tell you how it tickled us! As it happens, we were hosting a group of 18 people when UPS showed up - so all of them got to see the basket and its wonderful contents! I let everyone know about your site - hopefully it will bring additional business your way! We are truly enjoying all of the many items in the basket - that Derby Pie is incredible! We sincerely thank you for this wonderful gift and wish you continued success in your fine business. I know where to look now when I need a truly novel gift item! Again, many thanks. Sincerely, Alicia L
Subject: Party Success! Thanks John!
Just wanted to pass my thanks to you and A Taste of Kentucky for your products and help in making my annual Kentucky Derby Party a great success once again! Everyone complimented me on my prize give-aways and authentic Kentucky items (all products purchased at your store). I even got a few more converts to mint juleps and bourbon balls this year!!
Sorry I missed you last March when I stopped in and made my purchase at the Shelbyville Road store. I was told you were in the Bahamas, but were due in to Louisville that night. I flew into Louisville that same morning. I hope your approach and landing was much smoother than mine was due to the wind conditions. I will be in Louisville in late June with my family. We will be going to Churchill Downs to go the races and to see the place one more time before the major renovations take place. Hope to stop in at the store and buy some more goodies! Thanks again for A Taste of Kentucky! Bill Mc Pittsburgh, PA

Really enjoy this newsletter & in the process of moving across town, once settled I need to order your cookbook. Had my 1st Derby Party May 4, & everyone really enjoyed it - my daughter flew up from Lexington just for the weekend! Plan to have a bigger one next year. Jan R, a native Kentuckian.

I LOVE your web site and whoever created it (you ???) did a great job. My husband also creates web sites and I know it is A LOT of work so.....pat yourself on the back as EVERYTHING is so well written and so tempting......the food, the recipes and all the sauces you mention. I will look at this more when we get back from the beach in Florida. Since Mother's Day is tomorrow, my cat son and Bob, are sending me to Destin, FL to visit a dear friend. Course Bob will go along to, to windsurf (at his age of 62) while I walk the sands of Destin.
Now, need to get a note off to Becky,
Love from the South.....the real South....home of cornbread and pecans. Bunny

I love the monthly letter-don't ever stop sending them to me. We moved to Fl 25 years ago with work but our hearts are always in Kentucky. We look forward to a great Derby Party each year. However, this year we had to attend a wedding at 5:00 pm. I was very disturbed about missing the derby so I put the cell phone on and when they ask people to stand for the playing of "MY OLD KENTUCKY HOME", my son called me from Atlanta. I never missed a note and cried as usual, but felt like I was there. Just nothing like it. Our son was born on the Friday before Derby and next year he will be 30. We are hoping to attend!!!!!!!!!! Barbara
You have a fantastic website! Very easy to use, great descriptions, pictures, complete information, directions, and store hours. Much, much better than most of the shopping websites that I frequent. I quickly found what I wanted and called to place an order. I especially liked the feature where I could send a description of what I was buying to a co-worker since I was buying a gift from 'the office'. I will keep you in mind for future purchases.

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I love your stores. They make residents of Kentucky feel so at home and proud of our great Commonwealth.
Your service is also superior. Tuesday afternoon I was in your store in The Mall and the gentleman that assisted me was so very friendly and helpful in my choice of Kentucky gift baskets. SUPER SERVICE!!!
I don't always buy something when I visit your stores, but I always feel good when I leave.
Keep up the good work, Dave H

Sherry- Received my order #2087 all in perfect condition, yesterday! Thanks so very much for the free shipping, even without the music items.... What BEAUTIFUL "packaging", the red & white ribbon with the KY Blue Grass seed is such a nice touch!!
My husband has been on temporary assignment with his job in the Cincy area, and has been living for the past few months in nearby Sharonville. I visited for a few days from our home state of Minnesota....and we decided Sunday is was so beautiful weatherwise, to take a drive down to Lexington, KY as was only 80 miles or so from his apt. Wish we would have had more time to explore, it was so pretty!!
It was our first visit to the BlueGrass country, HOW BEAUTIFUL! In a couple months, when it is all green, I bet it will be just gorgeous. We were curious about all the black barns and sheds we saw on the drive, plus the signs advertising the Rebecca-Ruth Candy. When we returned home, looked those things up on the internet, and that's how I stumbled across your "shop" of Kentucky things. Thought it would be a good way to take gifts home to Minnesota with me, without the hassle of carrying & packing for the plane trip. Your pkg. almost beat me home!!
Long story short, just wanted to say to say a big THANK-YOU, everyone loved their Derby glasses, pins and the chocolates we haven't tried yet----- your ribbons and bluegrass seed really "makes" the wrapping!
Best regards, Jane K

Hi Linda and staff. Just wanted to thank you profusely for the wonderful gift basket you sent to me at the Seelbach in Kentucky! What a treat it was to try some of your regional favorites! Linda-- your cookbook is wonderful. My mother-in-law couldn't put it down! We really enjoyed looking through it.
Thanks again for your coverage of our visit and for the treats! It made me feel like Kentucky was my "home away from home".

Dear Sir or Madam,
My wife and I enjoy this website. We have moved away form Kentucky and it is good to be reminded of all the good things that are produced in the state. We are also glad to see something that has "Kentucky" for a theme, but is not overwhelmed with UK Wildcat stuff. (I graduated from UK, and I know how overboard retail agents can go with the merchandise.) Kentucky is more then just stuffed wildcats and Big Blue things. Keep up the good work.
